APCSC's Public Forum: Invictus Career Institute and Workforce Development Center

Alabama Public Charter School Commission (APCSC) hosted a successful public forum for Invictus Career Institute in Bessemer, Alabama. Invictus Career Institute and Workforce Development Center are dedicated to cultivating the next generation of innovators by transforming traditional education into dynamic, career-connected experiences that equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for tomorrow's workforce. College Readiness Program Grant Opportunity (2026–2027) Now Open

The application for the College Readiness Program Grant Opportunity (2026–2027) is officially open! This grant is designed to support schools in strengthening and expanding their advanced coursework programs, ensuring that more students are prepared for success at the college level. By providing funding for advanced learning opportunities, the grant aims to help educators create pathways that equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel beyond high school.

Exciting Developments at Breakthrough Charter School for the 2025–26 School Year

Big things are happening at Breakthrough Charter School! As the 2025–26 school year approaches, breakthrough will unveil newly constructed buildings designed to enhance the learning environment. These state-of-the-art facilities include storm shelters, providing an added layer of safety for students and staff while ensuring a secure space for continued academic growth. We excited to see scholars back in the classroom this month ready to make the most of these exciting changes!

I3 Academy Welcomes New Staff with Dynamic Orientation and Team-Building Activities

The Alabama Public Charter School Commission proudly welcomes the newest staff and teachers to i3 Academy! To kick off the school year, i3 hosted a dynamic three-day New Teacher Orientation filled with engaging activities, leadership introductions, and team-building experiences. As part of the orientation, new teachers participated in a character education team competition that brought plenty of energy and creativity—Team Confidence claimed first place, with Team Optimism following closely behind. One highlight of the competition was a fun “forced perspective” photo challenge, showcasing the new staff’s enthusiasm and school spirit. i3 Academy will be introducing its new team members soon, and we’re excited to see them help launch another impactful year. Go Rockets!

L.E.A.D Academy Prepares for a Successful School Year with STEM Training

The L.E.A.D Academy team is gearing up to welcome students back this week, ready to kick off an exciting and impactful school year. In preparation, educators participated in a week of STEM training, equipping them with new tools and strategies to engage students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This hands-on professional development ensures that teachers are well-prepared to inspire and support their students in these essential fields. The academy is excited to start the year strong and provide a dynamic learning environment for all scholars.

I3 Academy: Celebrating Awards and Recognitions

During the i3 Institute, i3 Academy celebrated excellence by honoring outstanding teams and individuals who have gone above and beyond to foster academic growth and embody the mission of i3 Academy—empowering students to be agents of change who solve the problems they see in the world.

Pillars of Excellence Awards were given to individuals who exemplify the i3 Power of We Pillars: Collaborative Culture, Holistic Student Experience, Results Driven, and Invested. These individuals were nominated by stakeholders—fellow staff members, board members, parents, or students—and were chosen by a committee at each school. Each award recipient received $1,000. The winners are:

Governor Kay Ivey is inviting students across the state to join in this exciting opportunity to stay engaged and inspired through reading all summer long. We encourage all Alabama public charter school students, families, and educators to participate and help prevent summer learning loss while building a lifelong love of reading. Let’s turn the page together!

Alabama Public Television is celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary by inviting students to participate in Future Reflections: What America Means to Me! This project invites Alabama students to unleash their creativity and share their perspectives on what America means to them. Students may submit submissions in various formats, such as video, essays, art, and performances, will highlight Alabama students' talents and unique voices. Selected works will be tentatively showcased at The American Revolution Premiere Events in Fall 2025 and Spring 2026! All entries must be submitted by September 1, 2025. Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Allocations for Career Coaches

Career and Technical Education (CTE) career coach allocations for the upcoming fiscal year will be provided for salaries, benefits, and additional expenses, supporting the enhancement of career coaching services. These funds are allocated for classroom instructional supplies, with specific guidelines for how they should be budgeted and expended.

Gifted Student Grant Program Opportunity

FY 2026 Capital Plan

The FY 2026 Capital Plan is due by September 26, 2025, and must reflect accurate facility needs, prioritizing projects addressing severe conditions. The plan, covering FY 2026-2030, should be submitted by a Certified Capital Planner via AIM. Ensure your system’s inventory and assessment data are accurate, as they may impact funding distribution
